Raw Mango Mutton Curry

RAW MANGO MUTTON CURRY

A famous Andhra mutton curry with raw mango! The mango adds a touch of tang to this spicy dish. Very simple to make and so delicious!!!!!???

Mutton w/bones: 750 g
Onion: 1 large, chopped finely
Green chilies: 3-4 slit
Ginger garlic paste: 1 heaped tbsp
Raw mango: 1 medium
Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
Chili powder: 1-2 tsp
Salt: to taste

Grind together with a bit of water:
Cinnamon: 1 1/2″
Cloves: 10
Cardamom: 3
Coriander/dhania seeds: 1 1/2 tbsp
Poppy seeds: 1 tbsp
Coconut: 1/2 cup grated

 

Heat oil.
Sauté onions, green chilies and turmeric powder till lightly browned.
Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a couple of minutes more.
Add ground paste and sauté well.
Add mutton, salt, chili powder and fry/ sauté for 7-8 minutes.
Add raw mango pieces. Toss well and cover.
If using IP. Use the meat/stew setting and adjust the timer to 20 minutes. Natural release.
If using a regular pressure cooker, after two whistles on high, lower heat and let it cook for 10 minutes on low heat.
Take off heat and let cool naturally.
Open, check seasoning.
If thicker curry desired, cook further on medium heat, stirring gently.
Garnish with fresh cilantro/dhania.
Serve with rice.
